While living in Oklahoma City following high school, he attended the University of Oklahoma, and during this time frame, August 8, 1983, one special summer evening, he met his future wife Angela. While transitioning back to Tennessee, John chose to follow Angela and to continue his education at Tennessee State University. He was employed by Advanced Survey 10+ years and FEDEX for 8+ years. He was also self-employed with Legal Shield and Assure for Life.

Camping, fishing, and tinkering around his house were among his favorite pastimes. Riding his Harley Trike with the members of the Hundred+ Motorcycle Club, of which he was President, was his passion. Ronnie was also a member of the Murfreesboro Elks Lodge.

His life was full of adventures based on being stationed at many Air Force bases close to the ocean and with his parents being from New Jersey, he was a natural born swimmer who loved snorkeling, playing in the sand, taught to fish and trapping crustaceans.
